SURFACE PREPARATION

For New Concrete

  • New surfaces such as concrete and plaster wall must be thoroughly cured for 28 days or treated with DV 100-X Concrete Neutralizer (if treated with DV 100-X, rinse with water to remove white crystals that form on the surface and let dry).
  • The surface should be clean and dry, free from oil, grease, dust, dirt, loose materials and other contaminants.
  • Remove dirt, dust, loose or excess grit or mortar with stff brush and clean surface by high water pressure hosing.
  • Loosely adhering or peeling-off of concrete have to be removed and large holes, cracks should be repaired first.

* You can also use DV 5-530 Liquid Tile Penetrating Sealer

* Effloresence are white, powder crystal-like deposit visible on all masonry surfaces and are subject to occurrences, treating efflorescence is highly necessary and must be removed thorougly

For Old and Repainting

  • Scrape to bare existing paint on the affected areas where moisture and leaks are evident, to ensure better adhesion.
  • Clean the exterior wall by high pressure washer to eliminate all dirt and dust. For interior walls scrub the wall with soap and water to get rid of stains and dirt.
  • Repair any cracks or blemishes in your wall with concrete patch. Fill holes and use trowel to smoothen the patch to match the surface of the wall.
  • Paint applied to the wall that is not properly sealed will not adhere thoroughly. Check the wall for moisture.
